Seriously, weekends barely matter when you don’t have a job. Every day feels exactly the same, and it requires keeping to some kind of schedule to stave off the feelings of inadequacy. Thankfully, my job is keeping me very busy, and I’m just happy to have logged off at a reasonable time today. I’m told things will sort of slow down the week between Christmas and New Year’s. That doesn’t count. I imagine I’ll just be sleeping to try to catch up from my last few weeks.
It’s officially October, but since I live in Austin, Texas, it’s still in the upper 90s and doesn’t count as fall at all. In fact, for those of you who have never been in an area that doesn’t have seasons, let me explain “fall” to you. This thing with crisp air, wearing layers, and leaves changing colors happens for us during the first or second week of December. But don’t let that fool you, we’ll still have some 70-85 degree days between December and March, and then it’s Summer again. The End.
But for reals, it doesn’t make sense to folks that live in a place with seasons, but as a native Texan, I’ve never lived anywhere with seasons. I am considering it. That’s another story for another day, though.
Levitation 2025 is a wrap, and it was fucking awesome. Read all about it here. Have no fear, there’s plenty more live music happening. ACL Fest kicks off today, and is two weekends long. I won’t be going anywhere near it, but if you’re looking for some musical recs, click on that ACL link to read a post by my buddy Case Cockrell.

Halloween Freakend by Levitation is also around the corner. Hope to see you there!
Also heard that King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard have Meadow Creek in Buena Vista, CO again, so we have that to look forward to this summer.
Dig This!
We get the newest drop from my buddy behind the curtain at the Rainbow Bridge Vibratory Color/Sound Experiment, which is always exciting on a Fuck Yeah Friday! Zine day.
Funny that there are multiple songs about a spider, as I have an update on my porch Orb Weaver Spider; I believe she’s at the end of her life cycle. It makes me very sad, but maybe The Crystal Spider will make me feel a little better. She had a great life on my porch.
October is Inktober for some folks, and my bad-ass artist cousin, Amy Abshier, inks some really cool, spooky, gothy, and fun art every day of the month for $75 to the 1st commenter. We’ll be getting to know her a little more in a future FYF! Zine, so stay tuned for that, but in the meantime, give her IG a peep.
Cuteness Overload

I searched to find a better video, and found this page from the San Antonio Zoo about what they’re doing to restore these horned monsters. Learn more here.
